University of Great Falls men's basketball coach Anthony Owens has announced the signings of Jarius (JJ) Halligan, Colin Buck and Randy Stanley to the Argonauts basketball program.

Halligan is a 5-11 point guard from Faith, S.D. He is a three-year varsity performer for the Longhorns and was an All-Conference first-team pick as a junior. He averaged 13 points, 3.3 assists and 2.8 assists as Faith High finished sixth at the 2014 Class B state tournament. The Longhorns are currently 5-0 this season.

“I really liked my conversations with Coach Owens, and Coach (Kevin) Smith,” Halligan said. “They seem to have a good vision for where they want the team to go. I feel it's a place where I can fit in and contribute.”

Buck is a four-year varsity peformer in basketball at Ekalaka (Mont.) High. He is also a three-year letter-winner in track and has lettered once in football. As a freshman he earned the “Sixth Man” Award. As a sophomore he was the defensive MVP, before earning offensive MVP as a junior. He is a four-year member of the Ekalaka student council and is currently the student council vice president.

Stanley hails from Monticello, Ark., and plays basketball for Monticello High. A self-described hard-worker, Stanley plans to major in physical education and min or in math.
