Choteau Girls Looking to Halt Fairfield's Streak

Posted: Updated:

Tomorrow night at Fairfield there won't be an empty seat in the gym. And that's not just it's because Fairfield and Choteau but because it should be a good basketball game with a lot on the line.

"It's exciting and I can't wait for it to happen. It's going to be a good game. There's going to be a big crowd and there's going to be a lot of nerves," said junior guard Taleigh Isakson.

"We're really excited. We've worked really hard and I think we have it this year.We got some good girls, we're deep and it's just going to be a good game," said senior guard Darby Yeager.

Fairfield enters the game with their win streak at 112 games but this year their district is loaded with good teams, including Choteau who's 7-1 coming off a loss to Rocky Boy. The Bulldogs can shoot the 3-ball and cause some problems inside with their bigs Tristan Achenbach and Celie Salmond.

"We've got to stay out of foul trouble. They've got a lot of girls who can score so we need to defend well and rebound well. They're a team we're not going to have an edge on. It's going to be a dead heat so the little things are going to be pretty important," said Eagles head coach Dustin Gordon.

The Bulldogs want nothing more than to knock off their rival but Fairfield is still the team to beat and Choteau will have to play a perfect game if they want a shot at winning.

"We're going to have to establish some sort of inside game and take care of the ball. They're quick on the outside and we're going to have to limit what Liz and Natalie do to us because they're very good players," said John Shepherd, Bulldogs head coach.

"We got to play our game. Coming off a loss of Rocky Boy we need to get back to where we should be and losing all those games is in the past, it's a new year," said Celie Salmond.

You talk to people around town and some think that this could be Choteau's year. But that's nothing but talk and until Fairfield gets beat, that's all it will be. But regardless of what's been said, tomorrow should be a good conference game between two rivals.
