Capital's Chancy, CMR's Sexe Sign with Carroll Football

The Carroll college football team has announced the signing of five in-state recruits. The group is the first of a class that will look to replace twenty graduating seniors.

"I am extremely excited about this group of Montana Student athlete's joining the saints football program this fall," Head coach Mike Van Diest said. "They are carrying on the Saints tradition of outstanding In-state players who have helped the Fighting Saints capture 14 frontier conference championships in the past 15 season. We look to have more In-state player's sign in the near future."

Payton Sexe - 6-1 - 205 - DE - C.M. Russell High School - Great Falls

This past season Payton was named first team All-State and All Conference at the defensive end position for the rustlers. In addition Se Xe was selected as the eastern "AA" defensive MVP and was a 2014 super state selection. He was named Team captain 2013 for wrestling and captain in 2014 for both wrestling and football. He has been Academic All State as a junior and as a senior. He is currently the number one ranked wrestler in his weight class and was a state AA tournament placer in both his sophomore and junior years. He carries a 3.6 GPA.

Parker Bernhardt - 6-1 - 195 - WR/DB - Billings West High School

As a junior Parker was elected captain for the west high football team. He was named 1st team All-State and all conference on Defense this past fall and was named 2nd team All-Conference on offense as he led his team with 50 receptions. He has been academic All-State for the past 3 years. Parker will be a 4 year letter winner in track this spring. He has placed at state in the 110M hurdles and in both the 4x400M and 4x100M relays. He carries a 3.7 GPA

Jonah Oberg - 5-11 - 180 - RB/DB - Laurel High School

Jonah has lettered in both track and football. As a junior and senior Jonah was name 1st team All-State and All-Conference as a defensive back. He was also selected HM running back in 2013 and 2014. He has been named academic All-State as a junior and senior. He is a sprinter and runs on the relay teams in the spring. He carries a 3.4 GPA

Gus Chacney - 6-2 - 180 - QB - Capital High School - Helena, Mont.

Gus was the starting QB last fall for capital high school and starts on the bruin basketball team. As a junior Capital High captured the state "AA" basketball title. He has been Academic All-State the past 2 years and will participate in track this spring. His father Walt is in the Carroll College Hall of Fame. Gus carries a 3.7 GPA and has been Academic All-State.

Chase Fossum - 6-5 - 180 - WR/DB - Glasgow High School

Chase has excelled in football, basketball and track for the Scotties. He has been named Academic All-State in all three sports. He has been named 1st team All-Conference as a junior and senior as a wide receiver. This past season he was an All-Conference selection at the defensive back position and All-State as a Wide receiver. He was an All-Conference and All-State performer last year in basketball and has placed at state in track in both relays, long jump and open 400m.

Fossum, Bernhardt and Sexe will join Isaiah Cech from Helena High who committed to Carroll last fall, as being selected to play in the east/West Shrine Game this summer.
