Cascade Lady Badgers Burying Competition

Posted: Updated:

Up until this past weekend, the Cascade Lady Badgers hadn't lost a game all season. But now that they have, they don't want that feeling again.

"We learned our lesson. We're going to take that loss and now we know what it feels like to lose this season and let that motivate us to continue to win, said Sr. Post Elsie Carpenter."

"It's probably best that it happened during the season and obviously not during tournament time. But the kids are taking it as a challenge and they know we definitely have to step up and bring more to the table in the second half of the year," said Robin McKnight, Lady Badgers co-head coach.

As for the first half of the year, the Lady Badgers have shown they can win. And it's been their four senior starters - Calies Ludvigson, Elsie Carpenter, Mariah Satterwhite, and Celina Lesofski that have been the key for their success.

"This is a special group and we knew it would be. We have four seniors that are leading us and these kids have put in a lot of time and paid their dues since they were freshman. Now they're benefitting from that - they've worked hard in the offseason and it's a really good group to be around," said Roger Hatler, co-head coach.

Early regular season success is one thing. Now the question is, is can the Lady Badgers continue to win and make a run in the postseason?

"Oh we definitely have high expectations. The best has yet to be seen," said McKnight.

"Yeah. We're super excited. We hope we'll make it out of districts and we'll do our best at divisionals," said Calies Ludvigson, Sr. Guard.

The Lady Badgers are confident and hungry moving forward. Having a taste of winning will do that to you. But it's winning late in the season that matters most. And that's something the Lady Badgers want to sink their teeth into.
