Floerchinger Sisters Savoring Season Together

Posted: Updated:

Life's got to be tough when you're the older sibling, but your younger sibling taller than you. It's something Paityn Floerchinger deals with daily.

"She's always been taller than me," said Lady Bengals senior guard Paityn Floerchinger. "Even since we were like three and four, she's always been taller than me. So I'm used to it."

"I've always been taller, ever since I can remember," said Lady Bengals junior post Shanna Floerchinger. "Since I was like four I outgrew her. She stays the same."

But despite a three inch height difference, Paityn and Shanna are as close of sisters as you could be.

"I'd say she's probably my best friend honestly," said Shanna. "We do everything together. She helps me with my homework. We talk about everything."

Having that kind of closeness can also pay dividends on the court. It's the guard's job to get the ball to post players, and Paityn feels she can get it to Shanna better than anyone can.

"We have a connection," said Paityn. "I know which way she's going to go and I'll pass it to her. And I feel like if she's not as open as somebody I can throw it to her and she can get it, like be most likely to get it, because she knows how and where I'm going to throw it."

"On the floor they definitely have played with each other so long that they know exactly where each other is going to be," said Lady Bengals head coach Eric Peterson. "They kind of have that sixth sense."

But having the same last name does have it's downfalls. For example, sometimes you may get blamed for things that aren't your fault.

"Last game they called a foul, and it was on her and they said Paityn Floerchinger, but it was on her," said Paityn. "So sometimes they mix them up."

"So basically you're taking credit for her mistakes, and she's just getting all the glory."

"Yeah!," laughed Paityn.

Despite their differences in size and age, the Floerchinger sisters have remained close throughout the years. And all they want to do now is savor their final year together as teammates.
