Senior Standout: Chinook's Kate Neibauer

Posted: Updated:

"She's really aggressive and loves to score," said Mollie Rose, Chinook girls head coach.

Yes she does. In fact, last Friday, Kate Neibauer made history, scoring 35 points which broke the Chinook school record for most points scored in a game. And with talent like that, she's one of the most entertaining players around.

"She's really fun to watch. I really enjoy watching her and coaching her. She's a huge leader on our team. Sometimes she's our rock so we rely on her a lot," said Rose.

And not just for scoring, coach Rose and the Sugarbeeters also look to Kate for her senior leadership and experience which sometimes requires playing all five positions.

"Kate's a very versatile player. I can put her on the perimeter or inside," said Rose.

"It just depends on the team we're playing. I'll either play 4,3,5 whatever is necessary," said Kate Neibauer, Sugarbeeters senior.

Kate does whatever needs to be done on the court, but she takes the same approach outside the gym with things such as her schoolwork and BPA - Business Professionals of America.

"I think that to make the world to be a better place we need leaders in those positions. It's just something that really interests me and it's doing something for the community and for the nation as a whole," said Neibauer.

"She's a very outgoing person, joyful - loves life and she's also a very excellent student," said Rose.

On the court, she breaks records. Off the court, she's looking to change the world. For just being a high school senior, Kate Neibauer has it figured out. Whether it's the game of basketball or life outside of it.
