Man Dies After Being Shot Outside of Billings Clinic

 BILLINGS:UPDATE: During a press conference, Chief St. John with Billings Police says the man shot outside of Billings Clinic has died from injuries. Six officers from three different agencies were involved in the shooting, all fired their weapons, and have been placed on paid administrative leave. 


St. John says the man was wanted by the U.S. Marshals on a burglary warrant, and marshals saw him driving a car in the downtown area. The man parked in the area of Billings Clinic. Task force officers positioned themselves outside. According to St. John, the man left the hospital and began to run, reaching for something in his waistband. St. John says the man tripped, fell and the gun went off and hit Billings Clinic. Officers say he tried to reach for a gun on the ground.





A shooting was reported at Billings Clinic Friday afternoon. Members of a US Marshal Task Force shot a wanted man outside of Billings Clinic around 3 p.m. according to Lt. Mark Cady with Billings Police.


Lt. Mark Cady with Billings Police says a wanted man was shot by at least one U.S. Marshal after refusing to surrender and shooting at the U.S. Marshals outside of the Billings Clinic Emergency Room. Cady says the man appeared to have a weapon.


After being shot, the man was taken to the Billings Clinic Emergency Room. There is no update on his condition.



In a statement from Billings Clinic, a spokesperson writes, "Billings Clinic is working closely with the Billings Police Department regarding the officer involved shooting that occurred on our campus this afternoon. We are grateful that no bystanders were physically harmed during this serious incident. Billings Clinic, including the emergency department, is open and all patient care functions are operational. Counselors are available for employees or guests who witnessed the incident."


A press conference is being held later Friday night.

    The body of a missing Chinook man has been found.     A woman walking near Hauser Dam has been rescued after weather and slippery conditions caused her to get lost.  According to the Lewis and Clark County Sheriff's Office, the woman is safe and uninjured.
