Carroll Football Signs Six Northwest High Schoolers

Posted: Updated:

The Carroll College football team has announced the signing of six high school football players from the stats or Idaho, Oregon and Washington. This brings the total commitments from this class to 19 with more to be added in the next few weeks.

This class looks to replace the twenty graduating seniors including 2013 NAIA Defensive Player of the Year Sean Blomquist and Carroll all-time rushing record holder Dustin Rinker.

The Saints have previously signed 13 athletes, including seven Montana players.

"This is an outstanding group that addresses some specific needs for our team going forward," head coach Mike Van Diest said. "Connor Poulson, Chase Bowen and T.J. Togiai are blue chip recruits from the state of Idaho. All three are big time players who will impact our program from day one. Jake Oliver and Major Ali were the top players on our board from the state of Washington."

A big surprise in this group comes is Oregon prospect Connor Fohn. The Carroll basketball team has eyed the wide receiver for years but he is coming to Carroll to contribute on the gridiron.

"Connor Fohn is the diamond in the rough in this year's recruiting class," Van Diest said. "He was one of the top point guards in the Pacific Northwest. He only played one year of varsity football and quickly became one of the top offensive players in the state of Oregon. He is a great get for our program."

Van Diest is excited about the job his assistant coaches did in the recruiting of these six talented student-athletes and the rest of the class.

"Our assistant coaches did a great job during the recruiting process of these six student-athletes," Van Diest said. "They went head-to-head against Division I and II programs to develop relationships that led these young men to commit to Carroll College. I cannot wait to get the 2015 class on campus this fall."
