GFCC Softball Excited for Inaugural Varsity Season

Posted: Updated:
GREAT FALLS - The Great Falls Central Catholic Mustangs are only three days away from their opening games at the Cutbank Jamboree. GFCC comes into this year with a  pretty young team, but it's younger than you may expect. The team only has one senior, and she plays JV! So this year's varsity team is really focused on their youth movement, and is excited that not only are they young, but that they're deep.

"Last year in our JV season we had some wholes here and there but this year we've shored those up," said Mustangs Head Coach Eric Vincent. "I think we finished the year last year with one pitcher, and this year we've got at least three in our rotation and we're working six."

"No one I think expected us to turn out this good," said Mustangs sophomore short stop Marley Helb. "We have a lot more freshman that came and tried out this year, and they're really good. They're coming from all sorts of teams, and they've been playing since they were younger so it's making us a whole lot better."
