Carroll Softball Preparing for First Home Game Saturday

Posted: Updated:
HELENA - Saturday afternoon the bleachers at Centennial Park will be packed with Carroll Saints softball fans for the first time in school history, and the moment couldn't come soon enough for these coaches and players.

"We're really excited that we have our first home game, and then we don't travel too far on Sunday," said Saints freshman third baseman Kaydee Parsons. "And I get to go to my home town, so I'm excited about that. Get to see my old teammates, and my whole family, and get to play in front of everybody so that should be fun."

"I can't wait for people like family members to be able to come so close to watch us, and watch us do good," said Saints freshman first baseman Delanie Chapman. "I think it will give us a great confidence boost. Many people feel more comfortable because their family will be able to be around."

The Saints will host their first ever home games against a rival that they should become very familiar with in the UGF Lady Argos. Carroll and UGF have been rivals in soccer and basketball for quite a while, and the Saints are excited to get the softball rivalry started.

"Rivalries are always fun," said Chapman. "They're that team that you go out there to beat, so I think it will be a great thing to have."

"I'm excited about the rivalry," said Parsons. "We're the only NAIA (softball) teams in Montana, so I think it's a given that we're going to be rivals, and I'm excited. I know that they're a good team, but I know that these should be pretty good games this weekend."

First pitch is scheduled for noon on Saturday, and when I asked head coach Aaron Jackson who would get the nod on the mound to start the first ever home game, and this is what he said.

"I'll let you guys see on noon on Saturday," said Jackson.

Well there you have it! Game one is at noon, game two of the double header scheduled for immediately after. The weather looks great, should be a big day for the Saints.
