Cats Defensive Line Has a New Look this Season

Posted: Updated:

ON THE DEFENSIVE SIDE OF THE BALL, THE MONTANA STATE BOBCATS WILL HAVE A NEW LOOK. NEW FACES WILL START AT LINEBACKER... AT CORNER.. AND AT THE SAFETY SPOTS. BUT ON THE D-LINE IS WHERE FANS MAY NOTICE SOME VETERAN NAMES.

"I like how we're developing some depth for the most part. I like that we've thrown a lot at them and they haven't hit a wall yet. We're still not perfect, not satisfied making critical mistakes and stuff like that. They're coming, they've worked hard every day. We haven't had a down day," Bo Beck, D-Line Coach.

THE D-LINE MAY BE HAVING THE MOST FUN THIS SPRING WITH GUYS LIKE TAYLOR SHERIDAN, TYRONE FA'A'NONO, NATE BIGNELL, AND ZACH HUTCHINS BACK. WHILE DEVIN JEFFRIES ZACH WRIGHT, AND TJ YATES COMPETE FOR TIME.

"You would think on paper that with the experience our offensive line has and the inexperience our defensive line has that it would be one sided. I really don't see it that way so far this spring. The defensive line guys have been working hard. They've been holding their own. In the short yardage plays today, they did a really good job," Rob Ash.

YOU CAN'T TALK ABOUT THE D-LINE WITHOUT TALKING ABOUT THE UNIQUE BANDIT SPOT, ZACH HUTCHINS TAKES OVER AFTER ODIN COE STEPPED AWAY FROM FOOTBALL.

"It's a lot of fun. I mean we're moving around. It's a blast. I wouldn't want to be at any other position. I go back, it's almost like playing linebacker, but I'm a D-end. I get to pass rush. It's the best, " Zach Hutchins, Junior DE.

THE REST OF SPRING WILL BE A CHANCE FOR THE D-LINE TO PLAY ITSELF OUT. EITHER WAY, THEY SAY THEY HAVE BIG EXPECTATIONS.

"We expect to be great. That's our expectation in that room. We expect to be the best in the country, and that's what we strive for."

"I think last year we had a big question mark on us all season. I think for us we want to take that questions mark and erase it.

One of the things we've been saying is no questions, no questions at all. I think that's going to be our thing this year."
