Great Falls Chargers Set to Begin New Era

Posted: Updated:

There's a been wind of change for the Great Falls Chargers. With the new season comes new opportunity. And it all starts under new manager, Levi Johnson.

"He's a really good coach. He shows us a lot of good drills that he took from college when he played," said Matt Garcia, Chargers OF.

"Johnson's a good guy - I like him. I think he'll be good for us. I think his main mission is to win ballgames and do it right so I think that's going to be our main goal," said Jake Lowery," Chargers INF/P.

Not only do they have a new manager, but they have a new team. Great Falls only has two returners this year, outfielder Matt Garcia and utility infielder Jake Lowery. So, they're young and lack experience but that won't be a crutch for the Chargers.

"We are going to be young but at no point are we going to use that as an excuse. We're going to have our growing pains. It's just going to happen. We're going to make mistakes, the thing is we just can't get discouraged, keep buying in and keep working hard and by the end of the season, good things are going to happen." said Levi Johnson, Chargers Manager.

All good things take time. And the Chargers will be working on the field to get where they need to be. But with so many new faces, the biggest key might be their team chemistry.

"We just have to come together as a team and work as a unit. I think we'll be alright once we bond together and get to know each other a little more but we'll be good after that," said Lowery.

Well they hope to be good enough to make the state tournament - they made it last year. But as everyone knows, a lot has changed since and this new-look Chargers team will have to continue to grow if they want to transform into a winning team by season's end.
