Saints Looking for Depth in Spring Scrimmage

Posted: Updated:
HELENA - Only two more days until the Carroll football team takes the field for their first scrimmage of the spring, and the Saints are in a bit of a transition period right now. Head coach Mike Van Diest has said numerous times during spring ball that the team is exploring a more pass--oriented offense, as opposed to the heavy ground game they've used in the past couple of years. But that's what makes this year's scrimmage so important, the Saints are looking forward to getting a look at both their starters and their back-ups in spring so that they can evaluate starters for the fall.

"We want to get everybody turns and repetitions so that they can see themselves on film," said Van Diest. "So we come back as coaches and watch film with the players next week we have a great evaluation tool. It gives us a chance to get certain match ups that we want; offensive line vs defensive line, wide receivers vs dbs, tight ends vs linebackers. It gives us an opportunity as coaches to get certain match ups that we've been looking for all spring."
