Saints Excited to Be Fans of Griz Scrimmage in Helena

Posted: Updated:

We're less than 24 hours away from live football here in the Capitol city. Well they're just scrimmages, but let's be honest, in April, we'll take it. For Carroll the big question marks loom over the running back position, but the buzz in camp so far has been about the passing game. Mac Roche has taken command of this offense, and has had plenty of help from his veteran receivers. So hopefully fans can get excited about some of the long passes in the scrimmage this year. But once Carroll is done for the day it's the Griz's turn to hit the field, and the players and coaches are just looking forward to taking it in with the fans.

"I just want to go out and be a fan after our scrimmage is over," said Van Diest. "I'll sit back up in the stands, and I can be a fan. I can yell and scream at them when they make mistakes. I just want to get out and watch their defense against Bob Stitt's hurry up, speed up, no huddle offense."

"It's always fun to watch other teams," said Saints senior quarterback Mac Roche. "If they're hear playing after us we'll obviously hang around and check out what they're doing."

I'm sure those two aren't the only ones excited to just be fans and check out tomorrow's scrimmages. Tailgates start at 10 am in the Carroll parking lot with Carroll's scrimmage starting at 11, and the Griz starting at 1. It's supposed to be cloudy and windy, so maybe wear a jacket instead of body paint.
