Dart Steps Down as Lady Bison Head Basketball Coach

Posted: Updated:

Great Falls High is now in need of a new girls head basketball coach after Gregg Dart resigned from the position on Friday.

Below is Dart's statement he released to KFBB Friday evening confirming the report initially released by the Great Falls Tribune.

"I am resigning simply so the program can continue to grow and improve. Any athletic program needs the full support of coaches, players, parents and administration in order to be successful. The Lady Bison will not have that if I remain as head coach. Gfhs has a great team coming back next season and I hope they can find a suitable coach to lead those young ladies to wonderful things next season.

As a GFHS alumni and educator, I want nothing but the best for our student athletes; and at this time what is best for the Lady Bison is for me to step away from the program.

I would like to thank everyone who has supported our teams the past few years as well as thank all of my assistants and former players for all their hard work and dedication."

Dart, who was the Bison's longtime football coach before taking over the girls basketball program, coached the Lady Bison for five seasons. This past season, the team was eliminated from the playoffs in the State play-in round after a 58-55 home loss to Billings Senior.
