Saints Defense Lacking Names, Not Talent

Posted: Updated:

Today was the final spring practice of the year for the Carroll Saints as they look to get some final preparation in before their last scrimmage this Friday. On offense there are still plenty of question marks, but on defense the Saints quietly very sound.

Early in their scrimmage last Saturday the Saints' offense struggled with the number one defense who returns it's entire secondary. Today at practice the defensive line made an effort to keep that pressure on the offense, and made it tough on all of the Saints quarterbacks.

Many thought the defense would struggle to replace their big name players such as two-time Frontier Defensive Player of the Year Sean Blomquist, but they seem content to fly under the radar.

"You can look at it as a dominant team with no names, or just that everybody could be a big name guy if they were somewhere else, and they would be," said Saints senior quarterback Mac Roche. "Every single guy on our defense would be the number one guy on any other defense."

"We don't have a Dakota Amy, we don't have a Sean Condon, we don't have Sean Blomquist this year," said Saints head coach Mike Van Diest. "Up front Mason Siddick has done a good job with those guys. It's a lot of no names. The only people that are going to know who they are is their coach and their moms."
