Helena, Capital Ready to Scout Competition at Cross Town Tennis

Posted: Updated:

Thursday at 4 pm will be round one of cross town tennis in Helena between the Bruins and Bengals. Last year the Capital boys placed second at state paced by singles champion senior Noah Strizich. For Helena they come in also paced by their boys singles number one in Layne Ryerson, who's only loss last year was to Strizich in the championship. Midway through the year both teams want to win cross town, but they've got their eyes on bigger prizes at state, and view this as a great chance to see their fellow Helena competition.

It's more practice for I guess for coming up to Divisionals, and for state," said Bruins one's doubles senior Lexie Reddige. "We would like to go to state this year. Mainly it's like practice because we'll probably play them again at some point."

"I think it's going to be really good practice for state," said Bengals two's single freshman Cory Bowlby. "They're a really good team. I think we're pretty evenly matched. It would be really nice to get a win going into the last half of the season."
