Saints Volleyball Adds California Libero

Posted: Updated:

Carroll College volleyball has announced the signing of Casey Eddy Berry, a 5-4, libero/defensive specialist from Tracy, Calif. "She brings a lot of intensity and positive focus," Carroll head coach

Maureen Boyle said. "She will be a great leader for our team. She can play that 'centerfielder' roll and cover a lot of ground for us on the back line."

The four-year starter at Tracy high School was twice named the San Joaquin Athletic Association Most Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year and as a freshman was named the SJAA Newcomer of the Year. Berry also kept herself busy with other sports, including softball, soccer and basketball. On top of high school sports, she traveled and hour and fifteen minutes one way multiple times a week for practice.

"I think that college athletics is going to be a breeze for Casey," Boyle said. "Her schedule has been so hectic with multiple sports and long travel for club ball that she will thrive being able to focus just on volleyball."

"My goal for the next four years is to bring a positive attribute to the team, with a leading voice on and off the court," Berry said. "I want to learn more as player and get better each day. I plan to make a difference on the team with my skills and attitude. "

Berry is the sixth signee for the Saints this offseason, joining Rayna Pilgeram and Jenna Starke from Helena, Brielle Bumgarner from Kalispell, Morgan Christy from Alaska and Emily Sullivan from Boise, Idaho who committed earlier. Berry plans to major in pre-med, she would like to attend physical therapy school after her time at Carroll.
