UGF's Kowalchuk finishes third at Frontier tourney

University of Great Falls freshman women's golfer Gina Kowalchuk finished tied for third and was the Lady Argonauts' highest finisher Wednesday as the Frontier Conference Tournament concluded at Ahwatukee Country Club.

Kowalchuk shot an 88-78-73-239. Her final round of 73 was the women's low for the tournament. She will have to wait to see if she receives an at-large bid to the NAIA National Tournament scheduled for May 12-15 in Pooler, Ga.

The Lewis-Clark State women won the team title with a score of 337-318-325-980. Rocky Mountain College's Kyla Clancy was the individual medalist as she recorded a 76-77-77-230.

The Lady Argos finished sixth overall. Cindy Pitkin was 25th overall as she recorded a 109-99-93-301. Ashton Smith shot 112-109-99-320 and Katherine Buschhorn recorded a 115-123-102-340 to wrap up the UGF scorers.

The Lewis-Clark men won the team title with a three-round score of 291-294-299-884, while Rocky Mountain College's Daniel Thompsett was the individual medalist as he shot a 72-70-74-216.

The Argos finished sixth with a total of 362-360-368-1,090.

Taylor Kuntz was the top finisher for the men. His three-round score of 81-85-79-245 was good for 23rd overall. Garrett Adair was tied for 25th with 83-87-80-250 and Shad Pepion was 29th in 101-88-105-294.

Logan Donisthorpe was 30th with a 98-100-104-302, and Matt Schmitz was 31st with a 100-113-127-340.
