University of Great Falls wrestling coach Caleb Schaeffer has announced the signing of Alex Quick and John Hensley to the Argonauts program.

Quick was a four-year varsity letter-winner in wrestling and a three-year starter in football for Rocky Mountain High School in Meridian, Idaho.

“I really like how small the classes are at UGF,” Quick said. “I feel like I have a better chance of getting a good education at UGF than at another school.”

Quick was a district champion in high school and was the Idaho state runner-up and finished third at Western Regionals in Greco-Roman. He also placed fourth at regionals in folkstyle.

“Alex is going to be a diamond in the rough,” Schaeffer said. “He choose UGF because of the wildlife program, but is going to drastically improve in our program. He is one of the most determined kids I have ever met.”

Hensley is also from Meridian, Idaho, and competed for former UGF assistant coach Jon Muri at Meridian High School. Hensley originally committed to Boise State before deciding to attend UGF.

“John Hensley will bring much added depth to the upper weights,” Schaeffer said. “He is a very offensive wrestler that will put up a lot of points.”

Hensley was a state champion and a two-time state runner-up for Meridian. He plans to major in biology.
