KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The University of Great Falls softball team saw its season come to an end Saturday as No. 12 Oregon Tech eliminated the Lady Argonauts 5-0 at the Cascade Conference Tournament.

The Lady Argos (28-18) finished one game short of reaching the championship contest for the third consecutive year.

Oregon Tech, the top seed which lost to No. 24 Corban earlier Saturday, will again face Corban in the first championship game Sunday at noon Mountain Time. A second, winner-take-all game would follow if Oregon Tech wins.

UGF reached the game with Tech by virtue of a 4-2 victory over Southern Oregon earlier Saturday afternoon.

Alex Lowry gave the Lady Argos the lead with a solo home run in the third inning of the victory over SOU. UGF added two more in the fourth thanks to an RBI groundout from Chloe Cross and an RBI single by Lowry. Mindy Larson drove in UGF's final run with a fielder's choice in the seventh.

Shelby Abeyta earned the win as she allowed four hits and two runs in the complete-game performance.

Lowry finished with three hits and Brittany Franklin added two for the Lady Argos.

UGF mustered just two hits – singles by Cross and Lowry – off Tech pitcher Rylee Carleton.

Tech took a 1-0 lead in the fourth before breaking the game open in the bottom of the sixth. McKenzie Shrum and Tre Sullivan each homered in the frame off UGF ace Keeley Van Blaricom, who took the loss.

Van Blaricom allowed five runs and struck out one while allowing eight hits in the complete-game loss.
