Conrad-Choteau Praises Achenbach After First State Title

Posted: Updated:

Saturday the Conrad-Choteau Cowgirls got themselves their first state championship in school history riding an incredible tournament from sophomore pitcher Tristin Achenbach. The Cowgirls got their first title via the mercy rule as they knocked off Ronan 12-2. Achenbach finished the year with a mind blowing 23-1 record, and it was clear afterwards that her team thinks highly of the heralded sophomore.

"We just love Tristin so much," said Cowgirls senior third baseman Gabby Drishinsky. "She just pulls our whole team together. We don't know where we'd be without her. We love our Choteau girls."

"I've said all year, I've said for two years, I think she's as good as there is out there," said Cowgirls head coach Mick Morris. "She's as good of an athlete as I've ever coached and she sets the tone on the mound."

There's been a lot of ups and downs from the whole thing, but the end was what we were going for," said Achenbach. "Like this game was what we wanted the whole time. That was the end goal, and we got it so it's great."
