Three Voyagers Named PBL All-Stars

Posted: Updated:

The Pioneer League announced its 25-player roster for the inaugural NWL/PBL All Star-Game Monday, and three Great Falls Voyagers were named to the team as left-hander Tanner Banks, righty Evin Einhardt, and catcher Zach Fish were all named to the squad. It will be the first minor league All-Star Game for all three, and they will represent the Pioneer League as they take on the Northwest League All-Stars on Tuesday, August 4 at Avista Stadium in Spokane, Washington.

Banks, who will start on the mound for the Pioneer League, leads all qualified pitchers in several categories entering Monday, sporting the lowest ERA (1.21), opponent’s batting average (.204), and WHIP (0.80) through his first seven starts. The former Utah Ute was named the Pioneer League Pitcher of the Week for the week of July 13-19, after tossing six shutout innings and allowing just three hits in a win at Ogden on July 15.

The starting designated hitter for the Pioneer League, Fish is in his first year as a catcher in the White Sox organization, after spending all of 2014 as an outfielder for the Voyagers. The former Oklahoma State Cowboy enters Monday’s first half finale tied for the league lead in home runs with eight, and his 27 RBIs lead Great Falls and also have him tied for second in the PL. Fish was named the Pioneer League Player of the Week for the week of July 13-19, going 9-for-24 with four homers and nine RBIs that week, including his first multi-homer game on July 17 in Ogden.

Another player in his second season in the White Sox organization, Einhardt wraps up the first half of the season on a roll for Great Falls. The right-hander has won each of his last four starts, allowing one run or less in each of those four outings. Entering Monday, the Battle Creek, Mich., native owns the third-lowest ERA among qualified pitchers in the league at 3.03, and has the second lowest opponent’s batting average (.217), and WHIP (1.04), trailing only teammate and fellow All-Star Banks in those two categories.

The inaugural NWL/PBL All-Star game is set for Tuesday, August 4 at Avista Stadium in Spokane, Washington, home of the Spokane Indians. First pitch is set for 8:05 p.m. MT. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit spokaneindians.com.
