Legendary Coach Dale Brown Headlines Montana Coaches Association Clinic

Posted: Updated:

The 48th Annual Montana Coaches Association Clinic began on Wednesday in Great Falls and the man who coached one of the best big men of all time was the keynote speaker.

LSU coaching legend Dale Brown, who in 25 years, led the Tigers to a 448-301 record and two trips to the Final Four led several different coaching sessions on Wednesday. Brown, a Minot, North Dakota native, coached Shaquille O'Neal during his time in Baton Rouge and remembers his first encounter with the future NBA Hall of Famer like it was yesterday.

"I met him when he was 13 years old in the mountains in Germany when I was speaking to the troops and he got cut off his high school team and I kept communicating to him and he believed in me. He was a gentleman. Best grade point average on our team, he hustled, yes sir no sir, he was coachable and a great listener. He may be the greatest center of all time. He'll be one of the greatest," Brown says.

The coaches clinic runs through Friday in Great Falls.
