Lady Bison's Klick Rehabbing from Back Surgery

Posted: Updated:

Nora Klick's career as a Lady Griz begins before she steps onto the court for her Senior Year of High School.

Right now it's all about getting healthy. Nora has been rehabbing from back surgery that repaired a herniated disk. The surgery was performed last month, but she hurt her back when she was a Freshman.

"I don't exactly remember how," says Klick. "I remember before the game I was talking to my trainer and I was like, 'I don't know why but my leg is feeling weird. I don't know what was going on.' And he's like, 'well we'll check it out afterwards.' And so just during the game, it hit me like a freight train. Halftime I was crying. Just pain in my back and going down my legs."

She played through the pain when she was a Sophomore and Junior, performing well enough to get attention of Montana head coach Robin Selvig. And now she says this is the best she's felt since Freshman year.

"I feel absolutely great," says Klick. "I'm pain free. It's the best I've felt in three years."

But the road to recovery won't be easy. She still has a lot of work to do before she's cleared to play 5 on 5 again.

"You gotta take small steps," says Sports Performance Specialist and Nora's trainer James Galbraith. "You gotta do what the doctor says. You don't want to go to fast because it's healing. So you want to make sure you're not going to re-injure that area."

Nora currently has no timetable for return. She will miss the entire Volleyball season, but her hope is that she won't have to give up Basketball either.

"They say I won't have to miss it," says Klick. "If anything, I might miss like a game or something or two games. But that would be about it. Which I'm gonna try really hard not to do."

The Lady Bison will need her leadership if they want to make another run at the State tournament. And when she does return, her teammates will have her back for one final season.
