Saints Men's Soccer Team Excited for Second Season

Posted: Updated:

Tuesday morning the Carroll men's soccer team kicked off their second season with a team scrimmage at Centennial Park in Helena to get a good look at how this year's squad is shaping up. Last year the Saints went 6-11-1 in their inaugural season with a roster comprised of mostly freshman. This year those freshman have become sophomores, and with a roster consisting of another 19 incoming freshman both the players and coaches are excited to have some experience in the building as they hope to reach higher than their eighth place ranking in the Cascade Conference.

"Just the knowledge that they have of what college soccer is like is going to help those players returning, also they're going to give that knowledge and help our younger players transition into the college game," said Saints head coach Doug Mello.

"I provide some leadership I mean I'll be a sophomore this year and I'm like one of the older guys on the team which seems weird but we got some seniors and we're hoping that they can lead us to a successful season," said Saints sophomore forward Isaac Bostrom.
