Griz Back Up QB Battle Heating Up

After the first scrimmage of the fall the Griz quarterback depth chart is looking a little more concrete but still not set in stone. Brady Gustafson only played three series as he is the clear number one and starting quarterback of the team. From there it was a mix of Chad Chalich, Eric Prater and Makena Simis getting the reps in the scrimmage as coach Stitt said he wanted to find out who his 2nd and 3rd string would be. Stitt says Simis and Chalich both played well and it's kind if between them who will get the backup job. Overall coach wants to see his quarterbacks make less mistakes out on the field.

"The thing we talk to them is bad plays are bad plays don't make them catastrophic," said Stitt. "Don't throw the ball up in the air and get it picked or tack a sack get the ball out of your hands so we are going to see you minimizes the bad plays because we don't wont real bad ones."

"There's a little pressure but you cant look at it like that you have to come out and play the game you have been playing your whole life and just learn from it," said Griz junior quarterback Chad Chalich.
