Belt Huskies Reload for 2015

Posted: Updated:

The Belt Huskies pulled off the biggest upset of the Class C 8-man playoffs in 2014 by knocking off top seeded Drummond-Granite in the first round. But after a ten point loss to Fairfiew in the Quarterfinals the Huskies went into the off-season with a bit of a bad taste in their mouth.

"I think it gives us some confidence going into this year," says Senior Koltin Haugrose. "Last year it was a tough loss. We want to come back on a better season and work our way back."

Head Coach Jeff Graham's team, will be led by Seniors Matt Metrione and Koltin Haugrose, headlining a class that has three playoff wins to it's credit.

"That's been huge," says Graham. "This Senior class finished 5th as Freshman and they've been to the playoffs the last two years and they kind of know what it takes. They won state basketball last year and divisional track. These boys have been around. It's kind of cool to see the kind of confidence they have."

A would-be senior that won't be on the field, but is always on the players minds, is Robert Back. It was nearly a year ago that Back was seriously injured against C-J-I. He'll be with the team in spirit in 2015.

"Going into this season we already talked about it a little bit," says Senior Matt Metrione. "Breaking some huddles with his name. It's a little bit of a drive for us too."

The loaded Northern C will test the Huskies again. But 2014 proved that if this team can qualify for the postseason, they can beat any seed they face.
