MSU-Northern Football Prepares for This Saturday's Season Opener

Posted: Updated:

The MSU-Northern football team kicks off it's first season under head coach Aaron Christensen this Saturday against former Frontier Conference foe Dickinson State.

The Lights, who went 3-8 last season, beat the Blue Hawks last year 40-17 in Havre. However, this years Northern team looks a lot different. They have just four seniors on the roster, so the team is young, and is also trying to implement the no-huddle offense. And since their first game is so early in the season, they've had just two weeks of practice to get ready. But, Christensen says his team has worked hard to make sure they're prepared come Saturday.

"Right now we're as prepared as we're going to be. It's one of those things we got a young team, we got a lot to learn. But the one thing I think about Dickinson is that they're going to be more experienced than us. We have a lot of guys on our team that this is going to be their first college snap. The challenge for our team is going to be dealing with adversity. The ups and downs of the games. The good things and the bad." Christensen says.

Kick-off for Saturday's game in Dickinson, North Dakota is set for 6pm. Then the Lights have a bye week off before their home opener on September 5th against Montana Tech at 1pm.
