New Centerville Football Coach has Miners Feeling Confident

Posted: Updated:

If you were to visit a Centerville Football practice, you wouldn't be able to tell it's the same team that went winless a year ago.

The team has a different body language; a new found "swagger" if you will. It's all thanks to the sense of confidence that new head coach Brian Davison has injected into this team.

"I just gotta have confidence in the kids," says Davison. Show them that you have their back and that you believe in them. And by doing that they'll believe in themselves."

Davison knows a lot about winning because he did plenty of that during his time at Highwood. He went 33-0 as a starter and won three state titles in a row. But the first day of practice in Centerville was not about title talk

"The first day of practice, he told us, every day make yourself better, says Senior Wide Receiver and Cornerback Blake Gierke. "So that's what we've been working on."

And if the Miners continue to get better, they can start to put last year behind them.

"I think we're going to have to bounce back from last year because it was a pretty rough year," says Senior Tight End John Frank. "Coach Davison is bringing a lot more organization than last year. And I think we'll be able to come together as a team and get some (Wins)."

With this team's new look, The Miners should have the confidence to compete for wins this season.
