Townsend Football Still Preparing for Fairfield on Friday

Posted: Updated:

Last weekend tragedy struck the Townsend community as three students passed away in a car accident, but this weekend the Bulldogs football team has an opportunity to do something that all teams should strive to do: be a distraction for those things that get us down, and hopefully keep things rolling for a team that's already off to a good start.

The Bulldogs will be playing in one of this weeks biggest games as they travel to Fairfield to take on the Eagles. Last week Townsend escaped Choteau with a come from behind victory, while Fairfield put the hammer down on Boulder with a 40 point win. The Bulldogs moved all their practices this week to 6 a.m. so that the students could attend the funeral services of their classmates. And though Townsend hopes for the win this weekend, they know the focus will be a little harder to maintain this week.

"It can be very difficult for them to focus," said Bulldogs head coach Travis Rauh. "Obviously there's a lot of things going through their head right now, and you've got to be patient with them during this time. Hopefully they're able to continue to work through things, and right now you've got to put how the kids are feeling first over where the football team is at at this point in time."
