Saints Hoping to Keep Momentum Against Western

Posted: Updated:

The Carroll Saints weren't playing in the NAIA game of the week, but it definitely was the best game of the week. Down 36-35 with 30 seconds to go the Saints rallied on a hail mary touchdown to win. And they hope this game is a sign of things to come.

The game winning catch wasn't the only positive for the Saints. Mac Roche threw for a season high 290 yards, they gained a season high 186 yards on the ground, and for the first time this year didn't commit a turnover. Carroll scored 35 of their 42 points in the second half of Saturday's game, and they're hoping to keep the same success they had in those two quarters rolling this weekend when they travel to Montana Western.

"In the second half we came out and finally got something going," said Roche. "So we're just going to try and keep that rolling this entire week, and put it in our game plan, and make sure we have some of the same stuff that we did last game."

"Every time you watch film on Sunday and Monday and you see the good things that you do you say 'Okay we've done it once, now why can't we do it again?'" said Saints head coach Mike Van Diest. "It's a matter of concentration and preparation, and those very same things that you just mentioned. We want to be able to take that to the next game and improve in those areas."
