Today marks the first day of a nationwide campaign called “active aging week.” The purpose is to celebrate the aging process and more importantly aging actively.
The Peak Health and Wellness Center in Great Falls and other organizations around the country will have events that celebrate seniors and the benefits of living an active and healthy lifestyle.

Monday, 9/28: SUPPORT SPORTS DAY (Wear anything that supports your favorite sports team!)
8am-9am: WALK with your pet – We’ll be meeting outside of the club, right by the main entrance door to begin our walk with our pets and Personal Trainer, JUSTINA Anderson.
10am-10:45am HYDRATION and PROTEIN NEEDS in the Conference Room – Learn from Registered Dietitian, ROB Baerman, about how much fluid and protein your body really needs and how you can physically meet this goal.
11am-11:45am HEART HEALTH in the Conference Room – Registered Dietitian, ROB Baerman, provides nutrition tips and teaches you how to create a heart healthy shopping list to considerably reduce the risk of heart disease.
Tuesday, 9/29: ART DAY
10am-12pm CANVAS PAINTING with BRUSH CRAZY in the Conference Room – Brush Crazy’s fun, experienced local artist will show you step by step directions on how to paint. Even if you have never painted before, you will leave feeling like an artist! We’ll be creating one big art piece. (Canvas and painting tools will be provided.)
Sign up necessary – space limited to 15 participants! Please sign-up at the Concierge desk before Monday, September 28th. Cost: $5.
12pm-1pm Wine Tasting in the Conference Room – Come to taste some fine wines provided by Wines by Wednesday and Gusto Distributing. No sign up necessary!
Wednesday, 9/30: TAKE THE PLUNGE WITH SWIMMING DAY (wear your swim suit!)
9am-9:50am CARDIO CRAZE – AQUABATA in the Warm Pool – Improve your cardiovascular health through interval work with Aqua instructor and Personal Trainer, SUSAN Lemelin.
10am-10:50am MOBILITY MANIA in the Warm Pool – Focused on mobility and functional fitness. Exercises that replicate things we do in everyday life) with Aqua instructor and Personal Trainer MARTINA Lohouse.
11am-11:50am KEEP IT BALANCED in the Warm Pool. Focused on balance, adding a few simple yoga poses with Aqua instructor NADYNE Weissman.
Thursday, 10/1: MOVEMENT DAY
9am-9:45am STRENGTH and AGING in the Conference Room with Personal Trainer CHAD Sievers. Learn importance of strength training in prevention of sarcopenia (muscle loss associated with aging) and how you can develop an exercise plan for optimal benefits with minimal risk of injury.
10am-10:45am BASIC SELF DEFENSE DEMO in the Conference Room with 5thDegree Black Belt in Ashi Katsudo Karate and Personal Trainer Don Johnson. Learn self-awareness at home and on the street. Learn how to defend yourself against someone stronger than you!
Friday, 10/2: HEALTH FAIR DAY
10am-10:45am POSTURE ASSESSMENTS and HOME STRETCHING ROUTINE in the Conference Room. Certified PTA and Pilates Trainer, DANIELLE Peters, will teach the importance of proper posture, core and back strengthening. A handout of home stretches will be provided.
11am-11:45am FALL PREVENTION and PERSONAL SAFETY in the Conference Room. Peak’s Safety Officer and Personal Trainer, BETH Munsterteiger, will teach exercises that will help you improve balance and confidence. Learn about ways you can improve safety around your house.
