Saints using bye week to get healthy

Posted: Updated:

The Carroll Saints are in the bye week this week following a 3-1 start to the season,a nd as injuries have mounted for Carroll, it may have come at the perfect time.

So far the Saints have lost wide outs Kyle Griffith and Dylan Simac to injuries, and two weeks ago running back Ryan Walsh went down with a knee injury, though he is expected to return to practice soon.  But even though they're banged up, the bye week isn't a time for the Saints to take time off. They've won their last two games by a combined margin of seven points. So it's about cleaning up their play, while getting themselves back to full strength.

"It's huge to just be able to get our bodies rested up a little bit, because we are a little banged up," said Saints senior quarterback Mac Roche. "We have a bunch of guys across the board who need a little rest, so it couldn't come at a more perfect time for us."

"I'm not a fan of bye weeks in the first, second, or third week," said Saints head coach Mike Van Diest. "The fourth week is okay, fifth week, sixth week are maybe a little bit better. Certainly with the injury bug that we've had we need these guys to be healthy as well as physically for the rest of the season."
