Griz Prep For Tough North Dakota Team

Posted: Updated:
MISSOULA -

This weekend, all eyes in Missoula will be on Makena Simis-the sophomore quarterback who will be making his first career start.

Griz Head Coach Bob Stitt says "The positive side, we get a chance to do something not many teams do, and that's win games with three different starting quarterbacks, and that's a huge challenge, and I think we can get it done,"

Used to winning at Washington Grizzly Stadium, the Griz have already lost twice in front of their home crowd, which is something they hope changes this weekend.

"I feel like with any sport you want to protect your home turf, and that's something that's really important, especially here in Missoula, you've got amazing fans screaming and yelling, so obviously protecting home turf is important, and it's something that's been a focus this last week, and I'm sure it will be going forward, so we're really looking forward to doing that," said Griz Senior Wide Receiver Ben Roberts.

For the Griz defense, they're looking for more of the same, and expect to be tested in the run game.

Griz Senior Linebacker Kendrick Van Ackeren"We've just got to make sure we're fitting right, we have a good game plan, we always have a good game plan, it's just whether or not we execute it properly, which obviously is a difficult thing to do, especially against things who are coming out trying to do the same, but I think if we really step our game up and execute perfectly, we should be able to stop them,"

With the rest of the Griz schedule not getting any easier, Coach Stitt doesn't look too far ahead, chosing to focus on the present saying, "You have to worry about who you're playing, and try to get a win this week, get some momentum going, and as you go along you're going to get healthier.  Hopefully for that last stretch you're 100% healthy and back to full strength, and doing things you wanted to do like we did the first week out."
