Stitt Happy with Simi's Record Tying Six TD's

Posted: Updated:

Earlier in the week coach Stitt talked about the challenge of winning with three starting QB's, and Makenna Simis delivered on his challenge. In only the sophomore's first career start Simis tied the Montana school record with six touchdown passes, and led the Griz to a season high 42 points. Only three Quarterbackss have also thrown six scores form Montana: Dave Dickenson in 95, Brian Ah Yat in 98, and Jordan Johnson in 2011. And this kind of performance may cause coach Stitt to pause when his first and second string passers are finally cleared to play.

"He did a great job of executing the game plan," said Stitt. "And we went in to it, and we gave him some options, and we had some other things that we didn't give him options.

"I just felt comfortable," said Simis. "I mean we knew they were going to bring a lot of dudes, my o-line was doing a great job of picking that up. I just felt like I could sit back there. It's easy when you've got dudes that can create separation on the outside and you've just got to get them the ball."
