Carroll Women's Hoops Hopes to Return to Nationals

Posted: Updated:

Last season the Saints qualified for the the NAIA national tournament, but lost in the first round to Concordia. The expectations are higher this year as the team only lost three seniors, and they return the reigning freshman of the year in post player Cassy Hashley, to go along with a majority of returning players. This year the Saints believe their depth will help them get back to nationals.

"We have a ton of depth," said Saints head coach Rachelle Sayers. "We're excited about that. We're going to play at a different level this year, and our motto is "Strength in Numbers," and we're really feeding off that."

"It's nice, we can get a quality rep in, and not have to come in and be dead tired and get poor reps in," said Saints senior point guard Katie Estey. "So it's nice to have people coming in and filling up spots. It makes it hard to guard. The scouting report is deep, and teams have to be ready for every position."

Carroll plays an exhibition game on Wednesday, November 4th against the Lady Griz, then on November 6th against Gonzaga.
