Helena Lady Bengals Peaking Before State Tournament

Posted: Updated:

The Helena Lady Bengals are returning to state after sitting out last year. Helena High qualified for the big dance by sweeping Big Sky in their state play-in game. The Lady Bengals have the three seed out of the west and will open with Bozeman, who as the two seed in the east. Helena High lost to Bozeman in five sets back in September, but this time the Lady Bengals feel that they are a stronger team, and will be much more prepared for their second match with the Hawks.

"It's momentum that we didn't have before," said Lady Bengals senior outside hitter Ally Peccia. "Like if we had gotten a bye we would have come off two losses. So I was definitely glad we got that game against Big Sky."

"The first time we played Bozeman we were definitely really young," said Lady Bengals senior setter Madison Richtmeyer. "It was our first real match of the season. We've got a lot more experience, and have found our mojo."
