Helena City Advisory positions open

HELENA -

Helena residents looking to get more involved in the community are encouraged to consider applying for one of the open city commission advisory board positions. Advisory positions help city commissioners make decisions about budget, priorities, and major projects.

The deadline to apply for these positions is Thursday, December 3rd by 4 p.m.

Open positions include the following:

  • The Americans with Disabilities Compliance Committee (3 openings)
  • City planning board (2 openings)
  • Lewis and Clark City County Library Board (1 opening)
  • Helena Public Art committee (3 openings)
  • The Zoning board (1 opening)

    The mysterious creature that captivated the nation after it was shot and killed near Denton in May has been identified. Montana Fish, Wildlife, & Parks says the animal is, in fact, a wolf. The carcass was sent to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service forensic laboratory in Oregon. After comparing the DNA to thousands of samples from wolves, coyotes, and dogs and concluded it was a gray wolf from the northern Rocky Mountains.  FWP says the original pictures of ...

    KFBB is receiving reports of a home completely engulfed by fire on just east of Great Falls off Evans Riceville Road. We're told smoke could be seen from as far away as the east side Walmart. Ricky Blackburn is currently on the scene; he tells us there are multiple agencies responding to the fire, and efforts are still being made to put out the blaze.  It is still unclear what caused the fire, if anyone is injured, or the extent of damages.     YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK - Officials report that the North Entrance to the park is closed as of Monday afternoon due to falling rocks and mudslides. The park made the announcement via Twitter.

    A group of kids in the Capital City started their journey of walking the length of the state this week. Campgoers at the YMCA plan to collectively walk more than 850 miles by Friday. The idea is to keep the children active through the summer months. So, each kid puts on a pedometer at the beginning of the day to track their movements.
