Babinecz Sisters Sign to Play Golf at UGF

Head coach Nick Jankiewicz and Lady Argo golf welcome twins to the program’s 2016 recruiting class. Great Falls High School's Catrina and Casey Babinecz signed their letter of intent to be collegiate golfers for UGF on Tuesday, Dec. 15.

The Babinecz sisters began competitive golf at the age of 12 and have participated in competitive junior golf every summer since, with the exception of Casey taking off for the 2015 Montana State Junior Championships to become her Certified Nursing Assistant. Catrina was a member of the Montana/Alberta Ryder Cup Team for the past three years and was joined by Casey in 2014.

While golfing for Great Falls High School, the sisters helped lead the Lady Bison to its first state championship since 2000. In 2015 Catrina finished third in Montana State Class AA, while Casey finished tenth. The two sisters also piled up individual honors, with Catrina making All-State and Academic All-State during all four years of high schools and Casey making Academic All-American all four years and All-State her senior year.

The two will add needed depth to a team that already features one of the NAIA’s top female golfers, sophomore Gina Kowalchuk.

“By adding Casey and Catrina to our team should be able to compete for conference titles and national championship appearances,” Jankiewicz said. “Not to mention they are both 3.8 gpa students with ambitious plans for grad school in the future.”

Catrina will double major at UGF in Biochemistry and Health Occupations, while Casey will follow a Pre-Med track and a degree in Nursing.
