In the midst of the holiday season, volunteerism in Montana becomes even more distinguishable.
The United Way of the Lewis and Clark area has just made it easier to connect the Helena community with volunteer opportunities.
www.volunteerhelena.org is administered by the UWLCA. Although the site has been around for several years, recent user feedback prompted a revamp of the site making it more user friendly.
"We recently got a reboot and an upgrade of its so it's nicer, smoother, easier to deal with and we are hoping to get more people excited about using it both on the side of the non profits and businesses that need volunteers and people who want to give their time," said United Way Community Impact Coordinator Trina Filan.
The website is free to use for both local groups seeking volunteers as well as interested community members seeking short and long term opportunities that they might otherwise not be aware of. According to a recent national report, over 30 percent of Montanans volunteer, contributing over 26 million hours of volunteer service annually.
