Capital's Rosling, Helena's Benson Sign with Griz and Cats

HELENA -

As Helena High defensive end Chase Benson signs with the Cats and Capital defensive end Cole Rosling signs with the Griz, they're extending a rivalry they've had in Helena since 2012. But things were different during their pee-wee days.

"We won a city championship together," said Rosling. "Then all through high school we were rivals, and it's just fun to continue that."

"It was pretty good," said Benson. "Both of us, and all the other kids on there, it was a pretty stacked team back in the day."

The two star defenders were the leaders of their respective units. Rosling led Class AA with 16 sacks, while Benson was the anchor of the state second ranked run defense.

"We both have pretty long arms and get separation between o-lineman," said Benson. "I'm pretty sure he's got longer arms than me. He's a good player."

"we're both physical players," said Rosling. "He's just a monster. I think I'm more of a mental player. He's got great speed, he's good behind his hands."

On the field the two ends played different styles. So it's only fitting they chose their school for different reasons.

"It's always been a dream of mine to play at Washington Grizzly Stadium," said Rosling. "Both of my parents are graduates from there."

"Probably just the coaching staff, they're young and they know what they're doing," said Benson. "I'm just excited and want to be a part of a new group."

Joining Cole and Chase signing today were Capital linebackers Trevor Larsen and Riley Lamb who both signed with Montana Western.
