Tech Football Announces Signings of 16 Prep Athletes

Posted: Updated:

Head Football Coach Chuck Morrell announced the signing of 14 additional prep standouts for the 2016 football season. The group consists of seven Montana products and out of state commitments from nearby Wyoming and Idaho all the way to Pennsylvania and Arizona.

"These young men have proven themselves as quality individuals not just on the field but in the classroom and make great additions to the Oredigger family," said Coach Morrell.

Three on the list are slated to play on Bob Green Field this summer at the Bob Cleverly Class C All-Star Game. Nine of the thirteen will play in all-star games in their respective states.

"We really focused on players that exhibited strong leadership and were team first guys with our class this year. This group certainly embodies those traits along with high levels of versatility and athleticism. Several of these student athletes are going to be key factors to Oredigger success for years to come."

While extremely gifted on the grid iron, the group is also very accomplished in the classroom. The group includes multiple students with a 4.0 GPA and a valedictorian. Eight of the commitments plan on pursuing degrees in Engineering while the others have plans for Business, Biology and Applied Health majors.

"This brings us very close to finishing our recruiting class this year."

Montana Tech won their second Frontier Conference Championship last fall under Coach Morrell in just his fifth season at the helm. The Orediggers (10-2) finished with a No. 7 ranking in the final NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll.
