Belt Huskies Enjoying 6th Straight Divisional Title

Posted: Updated:

It seems like the state tournament has become a standard for the Belt Lady Huskies basketball program. Next week they will have the opportunity to chase their fourth state title in the last five years.

Last weekend the team won their sixth straight Northern C divisional title after handing Box Elder their first loss of the season. Last year the Huskies entered the state tournament as the three-time defending champions but they were defeated in the first round by Saco-Whitewater-Hinsdale.,who eventually went on to finish 2nd while the Huskies placed 3rd. This time they're hoping to win it all.

"Hopefully we can focus and get one back," says head coach Jeff Graham. "They're kind of hungry from last year. This year they're ready to go and get one. We're going to have to handle the pressure a lot better. Less turnovers for baskets. We're going to have to be a little bit smarter come crunch time."

"It's really exciting," says Huskies Senior Addy Martin. "We know what we need to do. We always get to practice and have a different mentality during tournament time. It's business time basically. We're coming out every single game with intensity that we want to go from the start. It's getting us where we need to be."
