Box Elder Sends Boys off to State with Pep Rally

Posted: Updated:

The Box Elder Boys basketball team is one of the favorites to capture this year's Class C State Championship. It would be the programs second state title in the last three seasons.

On Wednesday, a pep rally was held in the school gymnasium for the team, which has lost only once this season. This past weekend, the Bears captured the Northern 'B' Divisional Title at the same place the State Tournament will be held, Four Seasons Arena in Great Falls.

Box Elder will open play on Thursday against the South's second seed, Reed Point-Rapelje. The Bears say they can't overlook their opponent if they have any chances of avenging last seasons disappointment of not making it out of Divisionals by winning a State Title.

"They're very young from what I hear. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. A bit of a disappointment (for us) last year. I'll be excited," Bears Junior Pernell Morsette says.

"I think it'll be a good challenge for us. They got a player that's scoring 30 or 27 a game in their division. It's going to be a good challenge but I believe in my boys and feel like we can get the job done," Bears Senior Tristan Bernard adds.

The winner of the Box Elder - Reed Point-Rapelje game will face either Westby-Grenora or Manhattan Christian in the semifinals on Friday at 8pm.
