Townsend Boys Ready for State After 21 Year Absence

Posted: Updated:

The Townsend Bulldog boys basketball team will be in unfamiliar territory as they head to state for the first time in 21 years tomorrow. The Bulldogs had to overcome some tough odds to punch their ticket to the tournament. They lost to Shepherd in the first round, but dug deep and fought their way to a third place finish. And the team feels that experience will motivate them in Butte.

"I think it put us back in perspective," said Bulldogs senior Quade McQueary. "It made us work even harder to get to where we needed to go to get to that consolation game and get to state."

"That first loss I think kind of put a bad taste in our mouth," said Bulldogs senior Austin Bessette. "We didn't want to lose another one and go home, so we all just had to come together as a team to make it happen where we wanted our season to go."
