2016 KFBB to KC: UGF Lady Argos NAIA Tournament Preview

Posted: Updated:

The UGF Lady Argos will return to NAIA National Tournament one year after making the Elite Eight in their first ever appearance. They will open the 2016 Tournament on Thursday against Missouri-based team Central Methodist.

"We've played in hostile environments before so we're used to that," said Lady Argos junior guard Nneka Nnadi. "We just don't want to pay attention to the crowd and just play."

"Exciting that we get to have a big crowd here," said Lady Argos head coach Bill Himmelberg. "We love playing in front of people. Our girls kind of thrive on the energy that it brings. So we're pretty excited and hopefully they're going to have a big crowd.

The Lady Argos aren't only hoping for a big crowd, but for a big run like last year when they ran all the way to the Elite 8, and they're using that experience to get, they hope, even farther this year.

"We have some returners from last year so some of us are more comfortable than others, but we're looking to act like we've been there before," said Nnadi.

"We know what to expect coming in, we know how much warm up time we're going to get, and we kind of just are going to feel a lot more comfortable than we did last year," said Lady Argos senior guard Erin Legel.

Tip off is scheduled for 12:30 between the Lady Eagles and Lady Argos, in what should be a pretty high scoring affair as both teams look to push the tempo.
