2016 KFBB to KC: Carroll Women Prepare for Tournament Regular Freed-Hardemen

Posted: Updated:

The Carroll Saints women are one day away from their opening game in the NAIA National Tournament as they will face tournament regular Freed-Hardemen in the first round in what could be a slug it out affair. The Lady Lions boast the nation's second ranked scoring defense giving up 52 points per night, while the Saints, are no slouches themselves, are ranked fifth in the nation in scoring defense giving up 54 points per night. So as far as Carroll is concerned this game is all about out defending top defenders.

"We both are physical teams, we both rebound well, we both defend well," said Saints head coach Rachelle Sayers. "It's going to come down to who executes offensively and takes care of the ball."

"They have really good guard play, which we've guarded good guards all season long," said Saints Soph. post Cassy Hashley. "And they're a very good rebounding team, so boxing out will be a huge, huge key for us."

The Saints will play at 7 p.m. Mountain Time this Thursday.
