UGF Lacrosse Prepares for 3rd Annual Copper Cup

The University of Great Falls will host the third annual Copper Cup lacrosse tournament between UGF, Montana State University and the University of Montana from March 25-27. The tournament is for supremacy among the state of Montana's three Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Associate programs.

Over the course of three days, each of the three programs will play the other two, starting with the Argos vs the Griz at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 25. The Griz and Cats will then play at 7 p.m. on Saturday night followed by UGF vs. MSU on Sunday at 1 p.m. All three games will be played in Memorial Stadium at Great Falls High School.

Saturday will also feature three local high school games. Great Falls HS takes on Billings East at 10:30 a.m., Billings East takes on Bozeman at 1:30 p.m., and the Great Falls/Helena girls take on the Billings girls at 4 p.m.

UM, a Division I MCLA team in the Pacific Northwest College Lacrosse League of the MCLA, has won the first two Copper Cup tournaments over UGF and MSU who are both Division II team. This year, the Bobcats may be the favorite as they enter with a perfect 6-0 record. The Griz enter the weekend with a record of 2-4, while the Argos sit at 1-4.

The Copper Cup started in 2014 and each institutions rotates hosting duties. This is the first year the University of Great Falls and hosted the tournament.
