Carroll Softball Ready for Second Half Surge After a Week Off

Posted: Updated:

It's year two of the Carroll Saints softball program, and after a one week break from play the Saints are ready to get back to winning Thursday when they travel to Vancouver to take on University of British Columbia.

The Saints currently sit at 13-13, which is the same number of wins they finished with in their first season. Carroll was scheduled to play a pair of double headers last week but ended up getting the week off as Walla Walla canceled the rest of their games this season, and their match up with UGF being postponed due to weather. But after their brief break Carroll is ready to get back to it tomorrow.

"It was kind of a bummer, but we've been going for eight weeks straight," said Saints freshman short stop Brittany Smith. "We were the only team that hasn't had a break the past two months, so I mean with a week break I think we're going to come back even stronger than before."

"We didn't play the break essentially," said Saints freshman catcher Tianna Harper. "Coach might have given us off, but we were in the cages, we were lifting, we were doing that kind of thing. And I think that that adds more fuel to the fire when we do get to Canada and Washington. We're a lot more excited to get on the field and do it together."
